Acupuncture FAQs

What does acupuncture feel like?
Acupuncture needles are nothing like needles used for injections. They are much thinner and usually cause no pain. More likely, you will feel the needle working once it reaches the acupuncture point. This sensation is often described as a 'tingling', 'dull ache' or a 'warm' feeling.

Is acupuncture safe?
Only single-use, pre-sterilised, disposable needles are used. The British Acupuncture Council, the regulatory body, demands high standards of hygiene.

How many acupuncture treatments will I need?
Most people feel a benefit within 4 to 6 treatments. Each treatment is specific to that individual, so the time it takes for recovery varies from person to person. As a rule, the longer you have had the complaint, the longer it will probably take to put right. Please be assured that you will not receive more treatments than you need.

What's your approach to acupuncture treatment?
My approach is patient-centered. I believe everyone is unique, so I tailor each session to you. There's no one-size-fits-all solution.

Where do you offer acupuncture?
Acupuncture is available in-person at my Reading and Wokingham clinics. Both locations provide a calm, comfortable environment for your treatment.

Are acupuncture treatments covered by insurance?
Yes, I am covered by most policies. Please check with your insurance provider.

What should I expect after acupuncture treatment?
Many people report feeling more relaxed, clearer in their thinking, or notice a reduction in their symptoms. Some people feel energised.

What conditions can acupuncture help with?
Acupuncture addresses the root cause rather than just the symptoms and therefore is excellent at treating many conditions, even if Western medicine has no diagnosis.
