Children and Teens

Making You Feel Better

Your Wellbeing, Naturally

Children respond very well to both Acupuncture and Cognitive Hypnotherapy.  Both therapies provide safe, effective and a tailored approach to a natural and gentle rebalancing of health and wellbeing.

Children respond extremely well to Acupuncture and is both a safe and effective treatment for many physical, emotional and mental issues. Acupuncture seeks to treat the underlying cause of an illness and restore health naturally.

It is because children respond so well that needles (or ‘tickly pins’, as one 8 year old patient refers to them!) are often not necessary. Massage and acupressure are commonly all that is required. If needles are used, usually only 2 – 4 will suffice and are only inserted for seconds. Furthermore, with a special needle technique they do not even notice the needles.

Moxa is another wonderful treatment. This is a method of gently warming specific acupuncture points. It is non-invasive, feels wonderful and is very effective.

Children and teenagers experience the world in their own unique way. Their minds are constantly developing, adapting, and learning—sometimes in ways that help them, and sometimes in ways that create challenges. Whether it’s anxiety, low confidence, fears, habits, or emotional struggles, Cognitive Hypnotherapy offers a gentle, personalised approach to helping young people find balance, resilience, and a sense of control.

Strengthening Inner Resources

Children and teens already have so many natural strengths they just might not know how to access them yet. Cognitive Hypnotherapy helps to gently guide them towards solutions that feel right for them, rather than imposing a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. By using storytelling, guided visualisation, and natural states of focus, they can explore new ways of thinking and feeling in a safe, comfortable way.

A Gentle, Individualised Approach

Every child is different, and so is their experience of the world. Rather than treating a ‘label’ or diagnosis, I focus on understanding how a child experiences their particular challenge. What makes their anxiety worse? What helps them feel calmer? When do they feel confident, and when do they struggle? By working with their unique perspective, cognitive hypnotherapy helps them shift patterns and beliefs that may be holding them back.

How It Works

Sessions are adapted to suit the child’s age, personality and needs. Younger children often respond well to creative storytelling, metaphor, and playful techniques, while teenagers may benefit from deeper relaxation, visualisation, and learning simple strategies to use in daily life. Children naturally have vivid imaginations and so are often very receptive to therapy.

Supporting Wellbeing with a Holistic Approach

Cognitive Hypnotherapy can work well as a standalone approach or alongside other forms of support such as counselling, CBT, or medical care when needed. Each situation is unique, and my priority is always the child’s welfare, ensuring they feel safe, heard and supported throughout the process.

As always I am very happy to discuss with you in more detail how Cognitive Hypnotherapy or Acupuncture can help.

Acupuncture for Children and Teens

Children and teenagers often experience physical and emotional imbalances just like adults - but because they are still growing and developing, their bodies and minds respond in unique ways. Acupuncture is a gentle, natural approach that works with the body to restore balance, helping with a wide range of issues, from anxiety and sleep difficulties to digestive problems, skin conditions and pain.

A Gentle, Natural Treatment

Acupuncture for children and teens is always adapted to suit their needs. Treatment is gentle and, in many cases, doesn’t involve needles at all—acupressure, massage, and other techniques can be just as effective. When needles are used, they are extremely fine, and the treatment is quick and comfortable. Children often respond quickly to acupuncture because their bodies are naturally more adaptable, meaning positive changes can happen in fewer sessions.

Treating the Individual

Just like with adults, acupuncture treats the person, not just the condition. No two children experience anxiety, digestive issues, or pain in exactly the same way, so I take time to understand their unique experience—how they feel, when symptoms appear, and what makes them better or worse. This allows treatment to be fully personalised, helping to bring the body and mind back into balance.

Supporting Long-Term Wellbeing

Acupuncture looks at the bigger picture. As well as addressing immediate symptoms, treatment also considers lifestyle factors such as sleep, diet, and emotional wellbeing. Small changes in these areas can make a big difference to how a child feels, and I often provide simple, practical advice that parents and carers can use to support the process at home.
