Cognitive Hypnotherapy:
1. Treats you as an individual. You are unique and you will be experiencing your own individual protective behaviour - be that Anxiety, Fear, Guilt or another debilitating response to the perception of threat.
2. Doesn't label people, we will work together to help you understand what is happening when you are triggered into that unhelpful response of Anger, Fear, Guilt etc.
3. Develops practical coping skills that give you back a greater sense of control; we will work to discover the event or events which have created the need for protection and reframe them so that they no longer act as triggers.
4. Treats in a bespoke, caring and flexible way. We will work at your pace.

5. Reframes the way you respond to stressors, making it easier to stay calm and grounded even in challenging situations.
6. Shifts negative thought patterns, empowering you to take control and develop a resilient, positive outlook.

What is a 'trance'
Any protective behaviour (like Fear, Anger, Guilt) is a 'trance state' triggered by our autonomic nervous system. We all go in and out of trance naturally - you have probably noticed times in your day when you are “in a trance”. For example, when you are driving somewhere and arrive, barely remembering your journey? Or perhaps you are so engrossed in a good book, or film, that you don’t hear anything else going on around you. When we are triggered into protection - for example Anxiety, a panic attack, overthinking - this is a trance state too. As a QCH Therapist, I work to help your nervous system understand that you are safe. We use a framework of therapeutic techniques which give you a tool box of life skills to help you live with a new understanding and confidence in your ability to grow and thrive.

Cognitive Hypnotherapy is solution focussed, so typically only 3 to 6 sessions are needed. An important aspect of this process is your commitment to it. I will ask you to listen to a download that I will write just for you, it will help to reinforce the work we do between sessions.

Is Cognitive Hypnotherapy right for you?
Cognitive hypnotherapy can be particularly effective if you:
-
Feel stuck in repetitive thoughts or behaviours
-
Want to make changes but struggle with willpower alone
-
Are open to exploring your subconscious patterns
-
Prefer a collaborative, solution-focused approach
Cognitive hypnotherapy is a modern approach that combines the power of hypnosis with cognitive and behavioral techniques. It's designed to help you access your subconscious mind and create deep, lasting changes in thought patterns, behaviours, and emotional responses.
1. Powerful. Cognitive Therapy can help you break free from this limiting thinking and support you gently to a lasting change.

2. Empowering. One aim of treatment can be to break the connection between past triggers and present challenges - whether in thoughts, emotions, or behaviours. These unwanted patterns can manifest as anxiety, fear, depression, addiction, anger, grief, guilt, shame, and more. Often, we repeat limiting beliefs to ourselves—or hear them from others—until they start to feel like truth: I’m not good enough. I’m unlovable. I don’t deserve happiness. But these beliefs are not facts. Cognitive hypnotherapy helps to unravel them, creating space for new, more empowering perspectives to take root.

3. Effective. A great thing about this therapy is that people often leave the first session feeling different. As little changes start to happen in your life, big changes gradually grow. Before you even realise, you begin to think differently and behave differently.

4. A therapeutic conversation between you and me. You will be in control at all times. It might be that you close your eyes and listen to my voice, but equally you may choose to have your eyes open while we talk.

5. A solution focussed therapy which draws on a combination of many different modalities, including hypnotherapy, NLP, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), Gestalt techniques, positive psychology and much more.

6. A technique that helps you to reach a state of deep relaxation, which can you help you to feel calm and comfortable. At all times you will know where you are, what you are doing and you can open your eyes and talk whenever you feel like it.
